Collaborators Wanted for Learn Do Share 2016 prototypes
LEARN DO SHARE is a global community of thinkers & doers. We hold events and labs around the world (NYC, LA, Miami, Toronto, Montreal, London, Paris, Barcelona, Warsaw, Ghent, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Melbourne and Perth). Out of these events and labs, collaborative projects and prototypes emerge. Learn Do Share has a continual slate of projects and prototypes that are designed to interconnect, produce open resources and collect and measure impact. Through a holistic systems thinking approach we strive to tackle complex problems through storytelling, play and design thinking.
We welcome collaborators from all disciplines.
In Summer 2016, we’ll be running a special Collaborative Design course at Columbia University. We’re opening the design process for the course and are looking for collaborators.
The goal of the course is to co-design a Mesh Network for a neighborhood in North Philadelphia that has no access to high speed internet. Together with the Village of Arts & Humanities (a small local NGO) and the neighborhood, a group of storytellers, game designers, makers, hackers and educators will co-design and build a low cost solution that can bring broadband to the community. .
To get involved please join the The Village of Arts & Humanities group.
Sherlock Holmes & the Internet of Things is an ongoing prototype developed and run by the Columbia University Digital Storytelling Lab that explores new forms and functions of story. Designed to be an open R&D space that experiments with shifts in authorship and ownership of stories, the massive collaboration also uses a detective narrative to examine the policy and ethical issues surrounding the Internet of Things.
Join the planning for 2016 as we integrate Artificial Intelligence and build a massive connected global crime scene.
Learn Do Share’s methodologies and frame works form the foundation for the...

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you guys know that we’re still working on the style guide for the Sherlock Kit. I’ve been a bit distracted with other things over the last few weeks, but I’m back on it now. It looks like we’ve got it mostly finished, I’m just working out the final details and such. Hope everyone is doing well 😀
Sounds good thanks @ceraward! I’ve been having fun playing with different looks.

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to check in and see what everyone is up to. I’ve started working on a document for the toolkit. It’s an introduction to sensors that can be used with the Raspberry Pi/Arduino. The purpose is to divide the sensors into categories such as movement/orientation, provide a high level overview of what the sensor does and…[Read more]
Awesome thanks @mickguy. Think it make sense to build out the Sherlock Github. Open to suggestions on the best way to do so. Happy to help collaborate. I also want to start to bring in some Columbia Fellows now that the semester is winding down.
No problem @lanceweiler. I think the best way is to open up wikis on the Sherlock Github and restrict to collaborators. My github id is mickguy.
@lanceweiler – Hi Lance have started here https://github.com/mickguy/sherlockiot-2016/wiki/sensors. Will try to work on it more this weekend. Let me know what you think (not a finished product) or if you wish me to post as a hackpad.
thanks @mickguy. do you want access to the Sherlock github? Would that help?
That would be great @lanceweiler
@mickguy can you send me an email and I’ll reply back with the login details? Thanks!

Hi @gillwhite we’re thinking it will be July/August and running up and through the event at Lincoln Center. The goal is to make it a true MOOC this time. Meaning that we open it to a larger number of participants. Hope this finds you well.
Hi @lanceweiler that is grand I will let folk know the plan is July / August and to keep an eye on the website too, looking forward to catching up soon.
